Sometime after the facebook app, it would be nice to have a little chunk of html or PHP code to embed in a website, signature or profile template that would show the map and at least present location, and even cooler if it could show a track of the last X points, be zoomable, etc.
The user of the code would be expected to know how to embed it and know how to enter their own device ID (or ID's) for display on the map.
Some of this will relate to other requests for friend tracking, etc, but this would be a nice thing to have and I know the google API provides quite a few canned routines for this.

This is done. Look at your Live Tracking page.

Played with this at work already - works great. Will stuff it in my website tonight in place of some other crap I have on there.
Thanks!

When I plug the provided URL into the browser everything works fine. When I bury the code in the website and browse to it using Firefox it shows that I am in Paris, which is what happened to the previous app when it had not location fix.
OK, it works in Internet Destroyer.... There are 2 versions of the Iframe tag and they are just a CH different from each other. I'll look up the firefox version and change the tags.

OK, have it working in both browsers now - the experience in IE is different than firefox. Chris - if there is an application behind the URL you gave us it needs to set the time based on the timezone set in the browser. The map time is displayed as UTC right now. An "I just slapped it in there to see how it works" example can be found at http://www.donsworld.org - the site is a beater site I use for experiments so it ain't pretty! I'll probably be playing with the API a bit more when I get some time and feel like educating myself. If I write anything promising I'll share it.

API is working great for me, although I don't plan on using it much, if at all. If I am not mistaken, once someone has the code, they will always have it. I am not a fan of people knowing where I am at all times, but everynow and then, I would like to selectively allow people to see my location, maybe by having a switch on my device to make my location public or private. Also, an SOS feature might be helpful. I will add the request to trac. http://trac.moostrax.com/trac/ticket/18

One thing I would like to see in the embedded page is the ability to set the zoom in Google maps...

Agreed. A specified default zoom level would be nice.

Re: HTML Code to embed in website to show map/location/tracks/?
Yes that is nice that it has a little chunk of html or PHP code to embed in a website, signature or profile template. _________________ Indianapolis seo
